Third time, no charm: Men fall to St. John’s in first round of Big East Tournament

After squandering an opportunity to secure a bye in the final week of the regular season, DePaul struggled from start to finish as they attempted to beat St. John’s for the third time that season. Despite the loss, the Blue Demons still recorded their first winning season since the 2006-07 campaign.

Former player accepts “dream” job with men’s soccer program

Former player Mark Plotkin always had the goal of returning to Chicago at some point with both his wife’s and his family based in Naperville. What he didn’t expect, was the opportunity would arise for him to return to DePaul for his first head coaching job after helping the Blue Demons reach the NCAA Tournament for the first and only time as a player in 2007.

Former Blue Demons reflect on 2014 Tournament game against Oklahoma

As DePaul and Oklahoma prepared to meet in the first round of the 2018 Women’s NCAA Tournament, I took a look back at the last time the two programs met in the tournament. After racing out to a 50-34 first-half lead, the Blue Demons held off a late rally by Oklahoma to emerge with a narrow 104-100 victory in the opening round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. DePaul followed that up a few days later with an upset-win over Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Lone four-year senior shines in final home game

There was a fair share of low moments for the only four-year senior — Eli Cain. Entering his senior season, the Blue Demons held just a 9-45 record in conference play. Despite all the lows, Cain closed out his DePaul regular season career at home with a 101-69 victory over Georgetown as he departed to a standing ovation and hug from his head coach, Dave Leitao, after scoring 24 points, five assists and three steals.
